چکیده

This paper considers the local stability of systems comprising linear time-invariant operators in combination with a deadzone nonlinearity. The behaviour of systems which are not globally bounded-input boundedoutput stable is investigated, and it is shown that under certain conditions, such systems are bounded-output stable for a restricted class of inputs. A sufficient condition for this property is stated as a simple norm inequality, and the restricted input class is shown to be characterised by the energy of the signal. The applicability of this work to systems with saturation nonlinearity, and in particular the well-known “anti-windup” problem is shown, and an example given.

"A Stability Criterion for Systems with Nuetrally Stable Modes and Deadzone Nonlinearities"

Stability analysis is considered for feedback interconnections of deadzone nonlinearities with linear systems that has a neutrally stable mode. Such systems do not have a unique equilibrium point and the standard techniques from passivity and Lyapunov theory cannot be applied. A stability criterion that generalizes the Popov criterion for this class of systems is derived in this report and seve...

Backlash Compensation in Discrete Time Nonlinear Systems Using Dynamic Inversion by Neural Networks

A dynamics inversion compensation scheme is designed for control of nonlinear discrete-time systems with input backlash. The compensator uses backstepping technique with neural networks (NN) for inverting the backlash nonlinearity in the feedforward path. The technique provides a general procedure for using NN to determine the dynamics preinverse of an invertible discrete time dynamical system....

Time-Varying and Adaptive Integral Control of Linear Systems with Actuator and Sensor Nonlinearities

Low-gain integral control strategies are presented for tracking of constant reference signals for asymptotically stable, finite-dimensional, single-input, single-output, continuoustime or discrete-time linear systems subject to certain classes of actuator and sensor nonlinearities. Both non-adaptive (but possibly time-varying) and adaptive integrator gains are considered in continuous-time, dis...

Kuhn-Tucker-based stability conditions for systems with saturation

This note presents a new approach to deriving stability conditions for continuous-time linear systems interconnected with a saturation. The method presented here can be extended to handle a deadzone, or in general, nonlinearities in the form of piecewise linear functions. By representing the saturation as a constrained optimization problem, the necessary (Kuhn–Tucker) conditions for optimality ...
